MUSIC: The Joey Alexander Trio @ Woodstock Playhouse, Woodstock. He made his Greater Nippertown concert debut last summer with a stunning performance at the Music Haven in Schenectady’s Central Park, and now the 12-year-old piano sensation has just received two Grammy nominations for 2016 for Best Instrumental Jazz Album and Best Improvised Jazz Solo. COMEDY: Chris Gethard @ MASS MoCA’s Club B-10, North Adams. He’s the Internet’s favorite sad sack. The talk show host, Upright Citizens Brigade stand-by and underdog stand-up comedy hero specializes in comedy of errors, merging mayhem and melancholy in his hilarious brand of off-beat humor that transforms any situation — from waging a year-long Twitter campaign to get Diddy on his show, to improv with Robin Williams — into an absurd adventure. The Boston Globe proclaims, “Charles Yang plays classical violin with the charisma of a rock star.” His edgy musicianship also embraces pop, rock and improvisational styles, and he has become an inspiration to young players the world over.
