The American author, humorist and host of the popular radio shows “A Prairie Home Companion” and “The Writer’s Almanac” offers a warm, funny and enlightening session of humorous conversation and hilarious anecdotes drawn from a life spent on the stage and the page. 7:30pm. $20-$65.

READING: Poets Speak Loud @ McGeary’s Pub, Albany. The monthly poetry session celebrates with the 11th annual Tom Nattell Tribute Open Mic & Beret Toss. It starts at 7pm with the traditional beret toss at the Robert Burns statue in Washington Park, and then moves on McGeary’s for the open mic. 8pm sign-up. $3 donation.

    Also, tonight at 5:30pm at Albany High School, there is a documentary film from Independent Lens called ‘In Football We Trust’ which intimately follows four Polynesian high school football players in Utah struggling to overcome gang violence, family pressures, and poverty as they enter the high stakes world of college recruiting and the promise of pro sports.

    Reception with food at 5pm.
