The Cactus Blossoms – the Minneapolis-based brother duo of Jack Torrey and Page Burkum who made their Greater Nippertown debut at The Egg in 2014 opening for Los Straitjackets and Nick Lowe – are returning to town at 8pm on Saturday, February 20. They’ll be taking over the Ale House in Troy in support of their new album, You’re Dreaming, which is slated for release on Red House Records on Friday (January 22). Advance tickets are available now, priced at $10.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Freihofer’s Saratoga Jazz Festival has announced 18 of the 20 acts slated to perform at SPAC’s 39th annual jazz fest this summer – including Chick Corea’s all-star trio, Motown legend Smokey Robinson, 12-year-old jazz piano phenom Joey Alexander, blues queen Shemekia Copeland, a reunion of Steps Ahead and lots more…

SOLD OUT: Sean Rowe’s two-night stand (Saturday & Sunday, January 30 & 31) at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs is now officially sold out – both nights… The concert by Beth Hart at The Egg’s Hart Theatre on Friday, March 4 is also now officially sold out.

Raging Asian Women – the Toronto-based taiko drum ensemble – will be banging on their drums at Skidmore College’s Zankel Music Center in Saratoga Springs at 8pm on Saturday, February 20. Tickets are $8; $5 seniors; free students & children.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs announced a triple-bill of Rock & Roll Hall of Famers – Heart, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts and Cheap Trick. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale to the general public on Friday (January 22).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Egg’s Swyer Theatre in Albany will host the 518 Songfest featuring Bryan Thomas, Ashley Sofia, Benjamin John, Rhiannon’s Lark, Tim Moore and Sandy McKnight. Tickets are on sale now.

The Bearsville Theater in Woodstock is throwing a Mardi Gras celebration on Friday, February 5, featuring the street-funk sounds of the Crescent City’s own Soul Brass Band. Tickets are $12.50 in advance; $15 at the door, and admission includes free jambalaya an gumbo served from 7-9pm The Soul Brass Band plays from 9-11pm, followed by a DJ spinning til 2am.

POSTPONED: Originally slated for Sunday, April 3, the concert by Vieux Farka Toure at Club Helsinki in Hudson has been postponed. The concert will be rescheduled for a later date TBA.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The New Riders of the Purple Sage – 45-year veterans of the psychedelic country scene – are schedule to ride into the Cohoes Music Hall this spring.

As previously announced, the fave NPR show “A Prairie Home Companion” returns to Tanglewood’s Koussevitzky Music Shed in Lenox for one last time with Garrison Keillor at the helm at 5:45pm on Saturday, June 25. Now the musical guests have been announced for show – Heather Masse and the DiGiallonardo Sisters. Priced at $43, $57 & $74 for reserved seats and $24 for lawn general admission, tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Sunay (January 24).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: There’s still nothing official from the folks at SPAC or Live Nation, but country superstar Luke Bryan’s website has revealed that he’ll be bringing his Kill the Lights Tour to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center this summer. Also on the bill are Little Big Town and Dustin Lynch.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Black & Puerto Rican Caucus presents R&B veteran Ginuwine in concert at Albany’s Empire State Plaza Convention Center. Tickets are on sale now.

The Bang on a Can All-Stars – featuring cellist Ashley Bathgate, bassist Robert Black, pianist Vicky Chow, drummer David Cossin, guitarist Mark Stewart and clarinetist Ken Thomson – head into Skidmore College’s Tang Museum in Saratoga Springs for a concert at 6pm on Thursday, February 18 that includes the premiere of a commission by composer Brendon Randall-Myers.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Old Songs in Voorheesville announced the schedule of upcoming concerts for their winter/spring 2016 season, including Matuto, the Old Songs Sampler Concert, Annie & the Hedonists, the Yves Lambert Trio, Goitse, Dennis Stroughmatt et l’Esprite Creole and John Roberts & Debra Cowen.

OPENERS: Eric “Roscoe” Ambel will be the special guest with Sarah Borges for her CD release party at Club Helsinki in Hudson at 9pm on Friday, February 26… PWR BTTM and Sun Club have been tapped to open for Ra Ra Riot at the Hollow Bar + Kitchen in Albany on Wednesday, March 2… Seth Walker will open for the Wood Brothers at Club Helsinki at 8pm on Friday, March 4.
