The Eighth Step Announces Winter/Spring Concert Schedule

The Eighth Step is gearing up to kick off the new year with a new winter/spring schedule of concerts, as well as a special festival – the Winter Gathering of the People’s Music Network – later this month.

SALLY ROGERS & CLAUDIA SCHMIDT
Saturday (January 9), 7:30pm

Proctors’ GE Theatre, Schenectady
Each a critically acclaimed performer in her own right – one in folk (Rogers) and one in folk, jazz & blues (Schmidt) – together they have released three critically acclaimed albums, and infrequently tour together to the delight of fans.

PEOPLE’S MUSIC NETWORK WINTER CONCERT

The kick-off concert of the People’s Music Network’s Winter Gathering, featuring Joe Jencks, the Peace Poets, Taina Asili, Tom Porter, Ruth Pelham, Ben Grosscup and more celebrating songs of peace and justice.

PEOPLE’S MUSIC NETWORK WINTER GATHERING
Friday-Sunday, January 29-31
$115-170 sliding scale; discounts for low income, youth, children, first-time attendees, early birds and single day attendees. Weekend registration covers all events including the Friday night concert and meals.
Hackett Middle School, Albany
The national grassroots People’s Music Network brings together performers, songwriters, singers, activists and music lovers to sing and share songs of freedom and struggle for a three-day festival of music, workshops and song-swaps. Singer-songwriter-activist Joe Jencks (of Brother Sun) will be the Artist in Residence. Events include a round robin open mic session, group singing, performances, song sharing & more.
