COMIN’ SOON: New Concert Announcements

The Hangar in Troy will be playing host to Johnny Rabb’s Big Band’s “ELVIS 2016” concert featuring Mark Gamsjager, the Tichy Boys, Blue Hand Luke and other special guests on Saturday, January 9. Tickets are $10. Meanwhile, the Blind Owl Band teams up with the Nellies at 8pm on Thursday, February 18. Tickets are $12.50 in advance; $15 at the door. And last but certainly not least, rolling into The Hangar at 8pm on Wednesday, February 24, it’s Texas troubadour James McMurtry. Tickets are $20 in advance; $25 at the door.

As part of the fifth annual 10×10 Upstreet Arts Festival in Pittsfield, jazz singer Stephanie Nakasian teams up with the Hod O’Brien Trio to perform a special concert, “Thrush Hour: 10 Great Ladies of Jazz,” a tribute to the music of Ethel Waters, June Christy, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Bessie Smith, Abbey Lincoln and more. Sponsored by BerkshiresJazz.org, the concert takes place at 7:30pm on Saturday, February 13 at Panchos in Pittsfield. Tickets are $20 in advance; $25 at the door.

UPDATE: Jorma Kaukonen, Keb’ Mo’ and Larry Campbell will be joining the David Bromberg Big Band as special guests for their upcoming “Belated Birthday Bash” concert at The Egg’s Hart Theatre. That’s some serious guitar playin’ there…

POSTPONED: The concert by Rosanne Cash and her husband, guitarist, producer John Leventhal which was originally scheduled for Club Helsinki in Hudson on Sunday, January 17 has been postponed to 9pm on Saturday, May 14. Tickets are $65 & $125.

The Receiver – the Columbus-based alt-prog duo featuring brothers Casey (keyboards, bass, vocals) and Jesse Cooper (drums, vocals) – are slated to make a tour stop at the Garage in Pittsfield at 8pm on Thursday, March 10 in support of their new album All Burn. Tickets are currently available for $12 in advance; $15 at the door.

Improv and sketch comedy is on the calendar for the Wood Theater in Glens Falls for the new year with upcoming shows by the Second City at 8pm on Saturday, February 6 ($55.50) and the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Touring Company at 7:30pm on Thursday, March 31 ($25). Also slated to step into the spotlight at the Wood is award-winning Elvis Presley tribute artist Doug Church, who performs two full shows at 3 & 7:30pm on Saturday, April 2 ($35 in advance; $40 at the door).

Stand-up comic Moody McCarthy headlines an evening of comedy at the Cohoes Music Hall in Cohoes at 8pm on Saturday, February 6. The show also features AJ Foster and host Dan Geurin. Tickets are currently available for $15.

Berkshires-based R&B/jazz group the Wanda Houston Band plays the next concert in the Colonial Theatre’s On the Stage Series – where the audience is seated on stage along with the performers. The Pittsfield concert takes place at 8pm on Saturday, January 30, and tickets are currently available for $25.

SOLD OUT: Scheduled for Saturday, January 9 at the Cohoes Music Hall, the solo acoustic concert by Dave Matthews Band guitarist Tim Reynolds is now officially sold out.
