MASS MoCA Announces New Concert

Since Wilco has put their Solid Sound festival into an every-other-year rotation at MASS MoCA in North Adams, we won’t be seeing the fest in 2016.

But Joe’s Field at MASS MoCA won’t lie fallow next year. The Ohio-raised, Brooklyn-based rock band The National is headed to North Adams for an outdoor concert at 8pm on Saturday, June 11.

The band – featuring vocalist Matt Berninger, plus two pairs of brothers: Aaron Dessner (guitar, bass, piano) and Bryce Dessner (guitar), and Scott Devendorf (bass, guitar) and Bryan Devendorf (drums) – is currently working on the follow-up to their latest album, Trouble Will Find Me, as well as a benefit Grateful Dead tribute compilation featuring Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon with Bruce Hornsby; Sharon Van Etten; the War on Drugs (“Touch of Grey”); the Walkmen (“Ripple”); Kurt Vile and J Mascis (“Box of Rain”; Tunde Adebimpe (“Playing in the Band”); Unknown Mortal Orchestra (“Shakedown Street”); Perfume Genius; Fucked Up; Grizzly Bear’s Daniel Rossen (“Terrapin Station”); Phosphorescent (“Standing on the Moon”); Stephen Malkmus; Lee Ranaldo; and Yo La Tengo’s Ira Kaplan.

The early-bird ticket price for the National’s concert on MASS MoCA’s website is listed as $49. but full ticket info (including on-sale date) info is still TBA.

UPDATE 12/16: The concert is a benefit for the Hawthorne Valley Association and MASS MoCA. Tickets for the concert are priced at $49, and will go on sale exclusively to artist fan club and MASS MoCA members, Higher Ground subscribers and Hawthorne Valley supporters beginning at 11am on Thursday (December 17). Tickets go on sale to the general public at 11am on Friday (December 18).

There will also be a pre-concert cocktail reception from 5-7pm. Tickets to the cocktail reception, which include premium concert tickets in the reserved standing-room adjacent to the soundboard, are $250.
