Lee Shaw Memorial/Concert Tonight in Schenectady

To honor the memory of the late great internationally renowned pianist, composer and
bandleader Lee Shaw, who died in October at the age of 89, 22 musicians will come together to celebrate her life and music at 7pm tonight (Friday, December 11) at the Whisperdome at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Schenectady.

The music will feature seven bands including the talents of a who’s-who of musicians from Greater Nippertown and beyond, including Joe Barna, Bill Delaney, Peg Delaney, Mike Demicco, John Esposito, Matt Finck, Otto Gardner, Gene Garone, Nick Hetko, Chris Kyle, Pete Levin, John Medeski, Patti Melita, Peter O’Brien, Lou Pappas, Chris Pasin, Brian Patneaude, Sarah Pedinotti, Jason Rogers, Adam Siegel and of course, Shaw’s longtime rhythm section Jeff “Siege” Siegel and Rich Syracuse.

Local 518 jazz radio DJs Tim Coakley (WAMC-FM) and Bill McCann (WCDB-FM) will serve as emcees for the evening, which will also feature a screening of the trailer for Susan Robbins’ recent film celebrating Lee Shaw, “Lee’s 88 Keys,” and a slide presentation of photographs compiled by Diane Reiner.

Admission is free.
