THEATER; “Matilda: The Musical” @ Proctors, Schenectady. It’s opening night! Based on the beloved novel by Roald Dahl, the Tony Award-winning musical tells the story of an extraordinary girl who, armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dares to take a stand and change her own destiny. 7:30pm. $20-$90. MUSIC: Martha Davis & the Motels @ the Iron Horse Music Hall, Northampton. Here’s a real blast from the past. Her voice is unique, unmistakable and timeless – The Los Angeles Times’ Robert Hilburn called her “arguably the most charismatic female performer in rock.” Tonight, she’ll serve up “Only the Lonely,” “Suddenly Last Summer,” “Total Control” and more, as we flashback to the ’80s. MUSIC: Tedeschi Trucks Band @ The Egg’s Hart Theatre, Albany. The Grammy Award-winning blues-rockers return to Greater Nippertown following their knock-out show at SPAC this summer. With Deva Mahal. 7:30pm. $65-$85. UPDATE: This show is now officially sold out.

ARTIST TALK: Fernando Orellana @ Opalka Gallery, Albany. The new media artist has collaborated with robots for over 20 years to make artwork. As a machine designer, a technologist and a user, Orellana has blurred the line between himself and machine in the creative process. 6:30pm.
