THEATER: “A Christmas Story: The Musical” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany. It’s opening night! The modern holiday classic about nine-year-old Ralphie Parker and his quest for an Official Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot Range Model air rifle – now with music and songs. 7:30pm. $20-$55. MUSIC: Michael Mizrahi @ Williams College’s Brooks-Rogers Recital Hall, Williamstown. The pianist performs Sarah Kirkland Snider’s “The Currents” (2012); Troy Herion’s “Harpsichords” (2013); and J.S. Bach’s Partita No. 1 in B-flat Major BWV 825, as well as Beethoven, Chopin, Patrick Burke and Judd Greenstein. 8pm. FREE.

INFO TOUR: Tour Grand Street Community Arts @ Grand Street Community Arts, Albany. On the heels of a $23,000 award from the New York State Council on the Arts, the Grand Street Community Arts organization invites you to come and learn about the organization’s future and plans for their headquarters at St. Anthony’s Church. 1pm. MUSIC: Keith Pray’s Big Soul Ensemble @ the Van Dyck, Schenectady. 8pm.

THEATER: “Live From WVL Radio Theatre: It’s a Wonderful Life” @ Proctors’ GE Theatre, Schenectady. The Immediate Theatre Project’s new adaptation of the film is set in the fictional studio of WVL Radio Theatre, which is struggling to stay on the air one snowy winter’s night. 7:30pm. $35.

READING/PERFORMANCE: Nitty Gritty Poetry Slam @ the Low Beat, Albany. 7pm.

MUSIC: Greg Klingler @ Proctors, Schenectady. A noontime organ concert featuring “Goldie” – the mighty Wurlitzer organ on Proctors’ Mainstage. 12noon. FREE.
