1. THE FIRST ALBUM I EVER BOUGHT WAS100 Classical Favorites. When I was five years old I saw the records advertised on TV and asked my mother to buy them for me.

2. THE FIRST CONCERT THAT I EVER SAW WAS … a production of the opera “Porgy and Bess”

3. THE FIRST MUSICAL INSTRUMENT I EVER OWNED OR PLAYED WAS … a violin. I started taking lessons when I was four years old.

4. THE FIRST SONG THAT I EVER PERFORMED IN PUBLIC WAS … “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” on violin

5. THE FIRST BAND I WAS EVER IN WAS … I was a member of the California Boys’ Choir at age 10. I auditioned and won a flute position in the YMF Debut Orchestra when I was 14.

Darryl Archibald will pick up the baton to conduct the band for the national touring production of “Motown the Musical,” which will be performed at Proctors in Schenectady from Tuesday-Sunday (November 17-22). Tickets are $20-$80.
