MUSIC: Holly Bowling @ the College of Saint Rose’s Massry Center for the Arts, Albany. A solo piano recital of the music of Phish transcribed from the band’s live concert recordings. MUSIC: Dave Alvin and Phil Alvin with the Guilty Ones @ the Hollow Bar + Kitchen, Albany. Yes, the Alvin brothers are back together again! Expect a night of jumpin’ blues as well as some old Blasters classics. With Rebel Darling. 8pm. $25.

FILM/MUSIC: Silent Film Spectacular @ Albany Public Library, Albany. Albany band lastdayshining had such a great experience at last year’s Silent Film Spectacular that they decided to create their own film for this year’s event, “When an Alien Robot Crash-Lands in Troy, NY.” lastdayshining is a hard-hitting, post-rock band with a sound characterized by expressive instrumental build-ups that travel through a range of dynamic changes from quiet lows to bone-crushing highs. MUSIC: Mike Kelley @ Lanie’s Cafe, Loudonville. You may have seen the singer and piano man playing with the Sharks, Blotto, the Lustre Kings, Circle of Willis, the Ernie Williams Band, Nite Train, the Weasels and probably a few others that we can’t think of at the moment. Tonight he plays as a duo with percussionist Bob Assini. 6pm.
