MUSIC: Lake Street Dive @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. Trained in jazz and classical music, four musicians who met at the New England Conservatory got together and formed an indie-pop band featuring a trumpet-wielding guitarist, a bassist, a drummer and a female vocalist with pipes that can seduce you while at the same time they’re knocking you down with sheer power. MUSIC: Tal National @ The Falcon, Marlboro. By the time the band reached international acclaim with their 2013 album Kaani (their first release outside of their Niger homeland), they had spent more than a decade crisscrossing their native country, usually on dirt pathways through the Sahara, playing epic five-hour sets, seven days a week, selling their CDs on street corners. A member of the legendary electro-feminist-punk project Le Tigre, the singer and producer JD Samson is an articulate champion of social causes and a party waiting to erupt.
