Troy Savings Bank Music Hall Announces Eight New Concerts

The Troy Savings Bank Music Hall has announced eight more new shows for its 2015-2016 season, including a number of returning favorites such as Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Mark O’Connor and Ira Glass.

Tickets for the new shows will be available exclusively to Music Hall members on Wednesday (September 9) and will go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday, September 11.

“SELECTED SHORTS”
Friday, November 13, 8pm
Tickets: $27 & $34
a weekly public radio show broadcast on more than 150 stations around the country focuses on a different theme each week. Live at TSBMH, the theme is “Uncharted Territories” – moving, comical and surprising stories about unexpected encounters read by Sam Underwood, Patricia Kalember and Tony Award-winner Boyd Gaines.

MARK O’CONNOR
Friday, February 5, 8pm

From bluegrass to jazz to classical music, the violinist-composer is a master. “One of the most talented and imaginative artists working in music – any music – today,” proclaimed The Los Angeles Times.

LADYSMITH BLACK MAMBAZO
Saturday, February 13, 8pm

Led by founder Jospeh Shabalala the vocal ensemble has been making joyous music for more than 50 years with the intricate rhythms and harmonies of their native South African musical traditions.

THE BRIDGE JAZZ FESTIVAL
Friday, February 26, 8pm
Tickets: $40 per night, $60 2-day pass
The opening night of the two-night fest featuring the amazing voice of vocalist Nnenna Freelon and guitarist extraordinaire Pierre Bensusan. Night Two takes place at Albany’s Massry Center for the Arts the following night with Ellis & Delfeayo Marsalis and more.

THE WEIGHT
Friday, March 18, 8pm
Tickets: $32; $15 students
Former members of the Band Jim Weider (guitar) and Randy Ciarlante (drums) joined forces with bassist Byron Isaacs and keyboardists Bran Mitchell and Marty Grebb to keep alive the music of the Band.

MNOZIL BRASS

“REINVENTING RADIO: AN EVENING WITH IRA GLASS”
Sunday, May 22, 8 PM, Tickets: $57, $45, $35
The host of “This American Life” returns to the Hall to talk about how they put together the iconic radio show: what makes a compelling story and where they find these amazing tales. He mixes stories from the show live onstage, recreating the sound of the show. And he plays funny and memorable moments from the show and talks about what was behind their creation.
