New Concerts: The Egg, Troy Savings Bank Music Hall & the Palace Theatre

Yes, a half dozen new shows have been added to the concert calendars for The Egg, the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall and the Palace Theatre, and we’ve been keeping up with all of the announcements. So here’s a round-up for you:

IRIS DEMENT

Iris Dement’s spare, heartfelt songcraft has made her one of the most celebrated singers in acoustic country music with songs that can be introspective and deeply personal, and also fiercely political, but always wrapped in the warmth of her evocative vocal style. Dement and her band perform in support of her upcoming album, The Trackless Woods. Contemporary singer/songwriter Pieta Brown will open the show.

The “Farewell to Rovin’ Tour” continues! The Irish Rovers – whose popular recordings “The Unicorn,” “Wasn’t That a Party” and “Drunken Sailor” ignited the popularity of traditional Irish music in North America return to The Egg on their extended final tour.

ANONYMOUS 4’S 1865 WITH BRUCE MOLSKY

After nearly 30 years, the a cappella quartet is embarking on their farewell tour, 1865, commemorating the 150 anniversary of the end of the Civil War. They’ll be joined by multi-instrumental folk artist Bruce Molsky.

WINDHAM HILL: A WINTER’S SOLSTICE

THE WORLD FAMOUS GLENN MILLER ORCHESTRA

Bandleader Glenn Miller died in 1944 at the height of his popularity, but his orchestra carries on his musical legacy and such classic big band songs as “In the Mood,” “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” “A String of Pearls,” “Moonlight Serenade” and “Tuxedo Junction.”
