MUSIC: The Pixies @ Brewery Ommegang, Cooperstown. Kicking off the Memorial Day holiday weekend, it’s indie rock pioneers the Pixies! With TV on the Radio and John Grant. 5pm gates open; 7pm concert. $50; FREE children under age 12.

MUSIC: Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit @ The Egg, Albany. Since leaving the Drive-By Truckers, Jason Isbell has become the hottest artist on the roots music scene with his album Southeastern on just about every “best of” list in 2013. The Americana Music Association also honored him with awards for Beat Artist, Best Song and Album of the Year. Craig Finn of the Hold Steady opens the show. 8pm. $34.50, $39.50 & $49.50. MUSIC: Dom Flemons @ the Middleburgh Public Library, Middleburgh. The Not So Quiet Concert Series continues with “the American Songster,” former member of the Carolina Chocolate Drops and multi-instrumentalist who plays banjo, guitar, harmonica, fife, bones, bass drum, snare drum and quills, in addition to singing. 7pm. $10. FESTIVAL/MUSIC: GottaGetGon @ the Saratoga County Fairgrounds, Ballston Spa. The family-friendly folk fest gets rolling with a pot-luck dinner at 6:45pm, followed at 8pm by the New Generation Folk Concert emceed by Caffe Lena’s Sarah Craig featuring performances by banjo player Hilary Hawke, the swinging jazz sounds of the Dylan Perrillo Orchestra and singer-songwriter Greg Klyma. FESTIVAL/MUSIC: Strangecreek Campout @ Camp Kee-wanee, Greenfield. Day One of the four-day fest features Sister Sparrow & the Dirty Birds, Zach Deputy, Shakedown, the Big Sway, the Kings, Banooba, the Ghosts of Jupiter, Fungus Amungus, Wobblesauce and lots more. Three stages. 11am. $160 all-fest.

MUSIC/FUNDRAISER: Adirondack Attic’s Musical History Tour @ Proctors’ GE Theatre, Schenectady. As a benefit for the New York Folklore Society, author-editor-publisher and host of North Country Public Radio’s “Adirondack Attic,” Andy Flynn joins Adirondack folksinger Dan Berggren for a special presentation that mixes folk songs with stories and images from the archives of the Adirondack Museum. 7:30pm. $20.

THEATER: “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike” @ Curtain Call Theatre, Latham. It’s opening night! Christopher Durang’s smash-hit Broadway comedy and winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play is a wacky nod to Chekhov. Jaw-droppingly great guitarists whose diverse repertoire of original and arranged music covers the spectrum from Americana to jazz, from country western to classical.
