MUSIC: Figgs Go Duo @ Spring Street Gallery, Saratoga Springs. That’s right. It’s a cool duo show by Pete Donnelly and Mike Gent – in other words, Figgs Minus One. 8pm. $10.

MUSIC: Don Julin & Billy Strings @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. The incendiary American roots duo harkens back to the days when bluegrass was a rough-and-tumble art form. Drenched in sweat, grimacing and howling like a bluegrass berserker and picking his guitar with absolute ferocity, Billy Strings is a youngster from Michigan, where he met veteran mando-man Don Julin. The Bluegrass Situation calls ’em “the unholy child of Pantera and Tony Rice.” 7pm.

GUITARS: Capital Region Guitar Show @ the Knights of Columbus Hall, Saratoga Springs. Buy. Sell. Trade. Drool… Saratoga Guitar gathers together music dealers from all over the Northeast who will be on hand to buy, sell, trade and appraise your musical equipment. TALK: “Neil Gaiman in Conversation with Laurie Anderson” @ Bard College’s Fisher Center, Annandale-On-Hudson. The award-winning author in dialogue with the acclaimed musician-composer-performance artists about such topics as “Story Structure,” “Fiction vs. Autobiography” and more. 7:30pm. $25.

MUSIC: Robert Randolph & the Family Band @ Putnam Den, Saratoga Springs. From sacred steel to rockin’ blues, it’s hard to beat the sizzle and excitement of the pedal steel guitar great and his band. With the Dave Spadaro Group, in support of their new self-titled album. 9pm. $25; $30 if under age 21.

MUSIC: Joan Osborne @ the Bearsville Theater, Woodstock. What a voice. In addition to her stellar solo career, she’s also been a singer with the Dead, Phil Lesh & Friends and Trigger Hippy. MUSIC: SHEL @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. The folk-pop group of sisters – Sarah (violin, bass), Hannah (piano, keyboards, accordion), Eva (mandolin, cello, guitar, banjo), and Liza (drums, beatboxing), hence the name of the band – returns for a double-bill with acoustic grunge-rock singer-songwriter Otan Vargas. 9pm. $18.
