Bands Announced for Albany’s Tulip Fest

Is it spring yet? Well, maybe…

The annual Albany Tulip Festival is returning to Washington Park once again from 11am-6pm on Saturday & Sunday, May 9 & 10. As always, admission is FREE.

Expect more than 100,000 bloomin’ tulip bulbs, the crowning of the Tulip Queen, a Mother’s Day celebration and lots of free music.

Here’s the musical schedule for the 2015 Albany Tulip Festival:

SATURDAY, MAY 9
MAIN STAGE AT THE PARADE GROUNDS

1pm: FLAGSHIP: North Carolina-based indie rockers featuring vocalist-guitarist Drake Margolnick and drummer Michael Finster.

2:30pm: JOYWAVE: The five-piece Rochester-based indie rockers are best known for “Dangerous,” their collaboration with Big Data, which shot to No. 1 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart.

4pm: THE KOOKS: British indie pop-rockers roll into Washington Park in support of their recently released fourth album, Listen, which debuted in the Top 20 in the UK Album chart.

LOCAL 518 STAGE AT THE LAKEHOUSE

1:15pm: HOLLY & EVAN: Holly Taormina, Evan Conway and Rob Morris play the blues and more…

2:30pm: THE SPECTACULAR AVERAGE BOYS: Oneonta-based indie folk-rockers

3:45pm: JOCELYN ARNDT: The powerhouse vocalist – formerly of the Dependents – takes a break from her Harvard studies to support her debut EP, Strangers in Fairyland.

5pm: THE ORANGE: After a 12-year hiatus, the Albany indie rockers’ recent reunion has proven to be more than just a one-off.

SUNDAY, MAY 10
MAIN STAGE AT THE PARADE GROUNDS

1pm: SIRSY: The dynamic pop-rock duo of singer-drummer Melanie Krahmer and guitarist Rich Libutti

2:30pm: “ELVIS 80”: A Local 518 all-star celebration of Elvis Presley’s 80th birthday featuring members of the Lustre Kings, Rocky Velvet, the Tichy Boys, Johnny Rabb and more

4:30pm: OH HONEY: The Brooklyn-based indie folk-pop duo of vocalist (and 2008 Shenendehowa High School graduate) Danielle Bouchard and singer-guitarist Mitchy Collins

LOCAL 518 STAGE AT THE LAKEHOUSE

1:30pm: THE SEA THE SEA: The indie folk-pop duo of Mira Stanley and Chuck E. Costa, whose video for “Waiting” was featured at TED 2015.

2:45pm: MATT DURFEE & THE RATTLING BADDLIES: One-half of Palatypus teams up with one half of Alta Mira.

4pm: PARTY BOAT: Saratoga Springs-based collision of beach punk and surf pop

5:15pm: MIRK: Joshua Mirsky and his band crank up their soul/R&B/hip-hop sound in support of their latest album, Run.
