Comin’ Soon: New Concert Announcements

The captivating Chicago singer-songwriter Ryley Walker – whose brilliant new album Primrose Green is slated for release on Tuesday – has already been announced for the Solid Sound Festival at MASS MoCA in North Adams – but if you can’t wait that long, you can catch him in action at the Half Moon in Hudson at 8pm on Saturday, May 16. Pigeons open the show.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: FLY 92.3’s annual Summer Jam is back at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs this summer with an all-day line-up that features Charli XCX, B.O.B., Walk the Moon, Echosmith and Jake Miller. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (March 27).

Less Than Jake and Reel Big Fish bring their co-headlining tour to the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park on Wednesday, June 17. Ballyhoo opens the show at 7:30pm. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday, priced at $20 in advance; $23 at the door. Also at UCH, progressive metalheads Between the Buried and Me take the stage on Tuesday, August 11 in support of their upcoming new album, Coma Ecliptic, slated for release in July. Showtime is 7:30pm with Animals As Leaders and the Contortionist opening the show. Tickets are on sale now priced at $18 in advance; $20 at the door.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Six new concerts have been announced for the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield, including Arlo Guthrie, America, the Kingston Trio, McQueen, Robin Spielberg and the Greg Hopkins Jazz Orchestra with Randy Brecker.

Multimedia comedian McQueen will also take the stage at Brown’s Brewing Co.’s Revolution Hall in Troy, playing a benefit for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at 7:30pm on Thursday, April 23. Ben Rosen is slated to open the show. Tickets are $20 in advance; $30 at the door.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Tedeschi Trucks Band rolls into the Saratoga Performing Arts Center this summer with soul queen Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings and Doyle Bramhall II. Tickets go on sale at 12noon on Friday (March 27).

William Tyler – of Lambchop and the Silver Jews – heads into the Low Beat in Albany on Monday, May 4, with Century Plants and Andrew Joseph Weaver kicking things off at 7:30pm. Advance tickets are $10. Also at the Low Beat, the Figgs’ CD release party for Other Planes of Here, which was originally slated for Friday, June 5, has been re-scheduled for the Low Beat at 9pm on Friday, July 10. Advance tickets are $10.

If you can’t wait til July for your Figgs fix, you might want to head to the Spring Street Gallery in Saratoga Springs, where the Figgs’ Mike Gent and Pete Donnelly will be teaming up for a rare duo performance at 8pm on Saturday, April 3. Tickets are $10.

CANCELLED: Two to Tango – the concert by pianists Pablo Ziegler and Christopher O’Riley, which was originally scheduled for 8pm on Saturday (March 28) at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in Troy – has been cancelled.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The 55th anniversary benefit concert for Caffe Lena will take place at Skidmore College’s Zankel Music Center in Saratoga Springs, featuring the Wiyos, Beaucoup Blue, Sarah Milonovich, the Suitcase Junket, Jim Gaudet & the Railroad Boys and Sarah Lee Guthrie & Johnny Irion.

Club Helsinki in Hudson has added a delightfully diverse new batch of concerts to its calendar, including Americana fave Parker Millsap at 8pm on Monday, March 30 ($10); Great Lake Swimmers at 8pm on Sunday, May 3 ($20); John Pizzarelli & Jessica Molaskey at 9pm on Saturday, May 9 ($TBA); and Femi Kuti & the Positive Force at 9pm on Saturday, June 6 ($38 & $65).

CANCELLED: The concert by Latin jazz trio Ben Allison’s Free Think, which was originally slated as part of the Ahora, Latin/Jazz! concert series at Union College’s Emerson Auditorium in Schenectady on Friday, May 15, has been cancelled due to lack of funding.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The WGNA Secret Star Acoustic Jam is coming to Proctors in Schenectady with three mystery country music artists.

UPDATE: Country star and guitarslinger extraordinaire Brad Paisley will be stepping into the spotlight at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center with Justin Moore and Mickey Guyton sharing the stage. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (March 27).

OPENERS: Casey Veggies has snagged the opening slot for Big Sean at the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park at 8pm on Wednesday, May 6.
