FESTIVAL/MUSIC: The Bridge Jazz Festival @ the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Troy. Nippertown’s inaugural dual-venue jazz fest kicks off tonight with the sparkling Marcus Roberts Trio, the Anat Cohen Quartet and Elizabeth Woodbury Kasius & Heard. 7:30pm. $28, $36 & $42. Also at 6pm Saturday at the College of St. Rose’s Massry Center. (Tickets for both nights are $60; $40 students.)

MUSIC/PERFORMANCE: Ryder Cooley’s “Revival” @ the Tavern Bar at Peck’s Arcade, Troy. Ryder & Hazel offer the new multimedia performance, melding live music, film, recorded sound, projections, shadows and movement. With songs by Ryder & Hazel with Karen Cole (of Dust Bowl Faeries), and short short stories by Richard Lovrich. 9pm. $5.

MUSIC: Tom Paxton @ The Egg, Albany. One of the most influential singer-songwriters to emerge from the ’60s heyday of the Greenwich Village folk music scene, Tom Paxton has announced that 2015 will be his final year of touring. Having focused her research on the history and evolution of 3D-film technologies and animation techniques, Lucy Raven’s “Tales of Love and Fear” is a site-specific artwork for the Concert Hall, investigating the fluid cultural perception of spatial depth though an art-historical lens. 8pm, $18; $13 students & seniors.

TALK: “Why Does the Juilliard Gift Shop Sell Plastic Composer Busts” @ Williams College Bernhard Music Center’s Room 30, Williamstown. Professor Mary Hunter of Bowdoin College discusses the fact that classical music culture continues to include busts of composers – often strikingly cheap and cheesy objects — while other elite arts do not.
