Win FREE Tickets to Roomful of Teeth @ Proctors on Wednesday

The stated mission of the adventurous, eight member, a cappella ensemble Roomful of Teeth is to “mine the expressive potential of the human voice.” And that means incorporating yodels, grunts, audible exhalations, whistling, drones, Tuvan throat singing and all other techniques from a wide variety of musical traditions from all around the globe.

Obviously, they’ve been doing pretty well. Two years ago, one of the ensemble’s members, Caroline Shaw, won the Pulitzer Prize for her 25-minute composition, “Partita for Eight Voices,” which RoT had recorded on their self-titled debut album for New Amsterdam Records. Then last year that same album was honored with the Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance.

Led by founder and director Brad Wells, who also teaches at Williams College in Williamstown, the ensemble is headed into Proctors in Schenectady at 7:30pm on Wednesday (February 11). Tickets are $35.
