Old Songs Concert Series Announced

Old Songs in Voorheesville kicks off their 2015 concert season with their usual benefit show on Saturday (January 24), the Old Songs Sampler Concert featuring a smorgasbord of local folk and acoustic musicians in a fundraiser for the upcoming 2015 Old Songs Festival.

But, of course, that’s just the start of a music-filled series of performances that reach around the globe from Ireland to India to Norway and beyond.

OLD SONGS SAMPLER CONCERT
Saturday (January 24), 8pm
$20; $5 age 12 & under
Featuring the New Salem Serenaders, Amanda Fry, George Wilson, Debra Burger & Carole Fults, Drew Jacobs, Set Americain, Bluegrass Banjo Bob Altschuler & Friends. With a bake sale and raffle. A benefit for the 2015 Old Songs Festival.

SOCKS IN THE FRYING PAN
Saturday, February 21, 8pm
$23; $5 age 12 12 & under
Two brothers Shane and Fiachra Hayes on accordion and fiddle/banjo accompanied by Aodan Coyne on guitar and vocals. From County Clare, Ireland.

BEPPE GAMBETTA & RUSHAD EGGELSTON
Friday, March 13, 8pm

The acoustic guitar and cello duo extraordinaire focuses on new original compositions inspired from traditions as well as revival pieces from European and American music.

MIST COVERED MOUNTAINS

Molly Hebert Wilson, Donna Hebert and Max Cohen offer a unique take on traditional and contemporary Celtic acoustic music featuring Molly’s exquisite singing with subtle fiddle and guitar accompaniment.

MEN AT WORDS

Together in concert for a once-in-a-lifetime concert, three of the world’s finest singer-songwriters – Archie Fisher, Jez Lowe and James Keelaghan – perform contemporary and traditional songs of historical significance.

NORDIC FIDDLERS BLOC
Friday, May 1, 8pm

Olav Luksengård Mjelva, Anders Hall and Kevin Henderson who come from Norway, Sweden and the Shetland Islands respectively. They have blended three individual styles from these three Nordic regions but still allow their three distinct flavours to come through in a sound that is unique, meaningful, intense and invigorating.

USTAD SHAFAAT KAHN

Kahn is the first known artist to attain simultaneous excellence in performing the sitar, surbahar and tabla. With Paul Rosato & Alex Tewnion.
