COMIN’ SOON: New Concert Announcements

The North Mississippi Allstars team up with New Orleans’ Anders Oborne for a new project they’ve dubbed N.M.O., which will be making its Nippertown debut at Club Helsinki in Hudson at 8pm on Sunday, March 1. Tickets are now available for $30 & $45 in advance; $35 & $50 at the door.

The Northern California duo of Kalin & Myles blend pop and hip-hop when they take over the stage at the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park at 7pm on Tuesday, March 24. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (December 12) for $25 in advance; $28 at the door.

OPENERS: The late great Ian McLagan was slated to open the Nick Lowe Quality Holiday Revue with Los Straitjackets at The Egg on Friday, December 19, but sadly he suffered a stroke and passed away last week on the opening date of the tour. Now it’s been announced that the Cactus Blossoms will open for Lowe/Los Straitjackets at The Egg.

Scottish comedian Craig Ferguson wraps up his nearly 10-year reign as the host of “The Late Late Show” on CBS-TV on Friday, December 19, but he’ll be bringing his live stand-up comedy Hot & Grumpy Tour: Walking the Earth to Northampton’s Calvin Theatre at 8pm on Friday, February 27. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (December 12), priced at $28.50, $38.50 & $48.50.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It’s certainly no big surprise, but James Taylor & His All-Star Band are headed back to Tanglewood’s Koussevitzky Music Shed in Lenox this summer. The only surprise is that this year he’s back for one-night-only…

POSTPONED: The all-star Terminals Band – featuring Bobby Previte, John Medeski, Greg Osby and Nels Cline – was slated to play its one and only gig at Club Helsinki in Hudson on Saturday, December 20, but the concert has been postponed. No new date has been set yet.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Egg in Albany added three new shows to its concert calendar. Justin Townes Earle, Dar Williams and the double-bill of Mary Gauthier and Allison Moorer. Tickets for all three new shows will go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (December 12).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: In North Adams, MASS MoCA has announced a big batch of performances for the 2015 winter/spring season, including concerts by Neutral Milk Hotel, Steve Earle, Zammuto, the Dot Wiggin Band, Cameron Esposito, Liam Ó Maonlaí (of Hothouse Flowers), Helado Negro, Carl Hancock Rux, Sex Mob, Legs and Nomadic Massive

POSTPONED: The Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo concert previously scheduled for The Egg on October 7, October 14 and Sunday (December 14) has been postponed once again. No new date has been announced yet…

OPENERS: Sublime singer-songwriter Anais Mitchell has been tapped as the opening act for the Ani DiFranco concert at The Egg in Albany at 8pm on Friday, January 23.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington has added two new concerts to its 2015 schedule – Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Rosanne Cash.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Saratoga Performing Arts Center announced the six-concert Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center season for 2015, led by Wu Han and David Finckel.

OPENERS: Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Judith Hill (featured in the award-winning documentary “20 Feet from Stardom” and NBC-TV’s “The Voice”) has been announced as the opening act for Matisyahu’s Festival of Light Tour, which is making a stop at the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park on Thursday, December 18.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Sing-Off Live! Tour is making a stop at Proctors in Schenectady, featuring VoicePlay, Street Corner Symphony and one more a cappella group TBA. Tickets go on Sale Friday (December 12).

The Sing-Off Live! Tour will also be making a stop at the Calvin Theatre in Northampton at 8pm on Saturday, February 21. Priced at $28.50, $38.50 & $48.50, tickets go on sale on Friday.
