COMIN’ SOON: New Concert Announcements

The subdudes’ soulful frontman Tommy Malone brings his side-project band to the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock in support of his new solo album, Poor Boy. The concert takes place at 9pm on Friday, November 21, and tickets are $20 in advance; $25 at the door. Other newly added shows on the Bearsville concert calendar include comedian Ralphie May at 9pm on Friday, December 5 ($29, $39, $49 & $99); twangmaster Bill Kirchen & Too Much Fun’s annual Holiday Honky-Tonk Tour at 7pm on Sunday, December 7 ($20); and the Winter Solstice Concert with Happy Traum & Friends at 8pm on Saturday, December 13 ($25, $45 & $65).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Citizen Cope has been added to the concert calendar at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Monday (October 27).

DigiTour 2014 featuring up-and-comers Andrea Russett, Brent Rivera, Andrew Lowe, Sammy Wilk, Rickey Thompson and Kenny Holland lands at the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park at 4pm on Saturday, December 20. Tickets are $25 in advance; $28 at the door. Also new at UCH, August Burns Red with Miss May I, Northlane and Erra at 7pm on Saturday, January 24 ($20 in advance; $22 at the door).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Quiet Music Festival makes its east coast debut at Skidmore College’s Tang Museum in Saratoga Springs featuring Sun Foot, Rosary Beard, Melissa Chilinski, Lizzi Bougatsos, Hush Arbors, Dragging an Ox Through Water, David Greenberger and Trinie Dalton. Admission is free.

Headed into Club Helsinki in Hudson in support of her new album Slow Phaser, singer-songwriter Nicole Atkins takes the stage for a Valentine’s Day concert at 9pm on Saturday, February 14. Ticket price TBA.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: In support of their new album Similar Skin, Umphrey’s McGee makes a tour stop at the Palace Theatre in Albany. Tauk opens the show. Tickets go on sale at 1pm on Thursday, October 30.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Troy Savings Bank Music Hall announced three new concerts – award-winning bluegrass favorites the Gibson Brothers, the hypnotic vocal ensemble Kitka and the Celtic band Caladh Nua.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Two big new shows were announced for the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park – St. Vincent and Dropkick Murphys with the Mahones and Blood or Whiskey. Tickets for both shows go on sale this weekend.

New at the Parish Public House in Albany are Frank Zappa tribute band the Z3 (featuring multi-instrumentalist/Mothers of Invention alum Ed Mann) with the Local 518’s Way Down at 10pm on Thursday, November 6), and North Carolina’s Big Something at 9pm on Thursday, November 13 ($8)

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Jazz group the Nancy & Spencer Reed Quartet performs the inaugural live concert at Albany’s Madison Theatre. Tickets are $18.

OPENERS: Milwaukee rock ‘n’ rollers Trapper Schoepp & the Shades will kick off the show for the Jayhawks at The Egg in Albany at 7:30pm on Thursday, October 30.
