Sponsored by the Capital Region Blues Network, the third annual Blues Band Showdown is coming up soon at the Fuller Roadhouse Grille in Albany – Saturday, October 25, to be exact – and this year, the competition is open to blues bands, duos and solo performers, as well.

Here’s the deal:

1. $500 cash (band)/$250 cash (solo/duo)
2. Nomination to the International Blues Competition in Memphis
3. Paid gig opening for Chris Thomas King on Friday, December 12 at The Linda in Albany
4. Premium guitar set-up from Kokotele Guitar Works (1 for each guitarist/bassist in the winning band

2. Performers should have a recording of their material. Format can be almost anything, mp3, YouTube, CD, etc. Submit no more than three songs.
3. Up to three contestants in each category will be chosen to compete.

1. Entries must be submitted by Tuesday, September 30.
2. Entrants chosen to compete will be announced by Monday, October 6.

1. At least one band member must be a member of the Capital Region Blues Network. (GO HERE to become a member.)
2. No member of the band can have been nominated for a Blues Music or WC Handy Award
3. Must be available for the CRBN competition on October 25
4. Must be available to travel to the International Blues Competition in Memphis the last week in January (Specific dates TBA)
5. Must have at least one original song
6. Competing bands must sell at least 20 tickets before the show date.
7. CRBN Board members are not eligible.
8. Must play primarily blues music. (The definition of what qualifies as “blues” is broad.)
