With their genre-bending blend of funk, jazz, trance, soul, Afro-beat and prog rock, the Brooklyn-based Dopapod has been touring nationally playing 150-plus shows a year for the last three years. Their rigorous tour schedule has seen the young, yet seasoned group make appearances at numerous festivals including Gathering of the Vibes, Camp Bisco, Electric Forest, Summer Camp, Peach Fest, Burning Man, Bear Creek, Catskill Chill and more. And along the way, their electrifying live showcase has been cultivating a fast-growing and loyal fan base. RVA Magazine describes Dopapod as “what would happen if Zappa, Yes, Deadmau5 and the Meters all sat down for a cup of coffee.”

In support of their third studio album, Redivider, Dopapod’s current road trip finds the band making a stop at Putnam Den in Saratoga Springs on Saturday (September 27).

But that’s only half of the musical festivities. Sharing the stage will be Consider the Source, a NYC trio that also defies easy description. Drawing from progressive rock, fusion and jazz, with alien sounds soaked in Indian and Middle Eastern styles, CTS blends disparate parts into an utterly original whole. The band describes their sound as “Sci-Fi Middle Eastern Fusion,” and their music strikes a rare balance between cerebral and emotional, intellectual and primal.

Showtime is 9:30pm on Saturday, and tickets are $15 in advance; $18 at the door; with an additional $5 surcharge at the door if under 21.
