FESTIVAL/MUSIC: FreshGrass @ MASS MoCA, North Adams. It’s Day One of the three-day bluegrass-and-beyond fest. Today’s featured acts include Michael Daves & Tony Trischka (7pm), Aiofe O’Donovan (8pm), the Carolina Chocolate Drops (9:05pm) and the Duhks (10:30pm). READING: Jordi Herald @ Broadside Books, Northampton. The founder and long-time owner of the Iron Horse Music Hall reads from his new memoir, “Positively Center Street: My 25 Years at the Iron Horse Music Hall, 1979-2004,” with co-author David Sokol and percussionist Tony Vacca. 7:30pm.

MUSIC: Trout Fishing in America @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. The award-winning friendly-friendly folk duo of Ezra Idlet (guitar/vocals) and Keith Grimwood (bass/vocals) amble into the Spa City in support of their latest album, Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers. 7pm. $16.

MUSIC: Garland Jeffreys & Band @ the Falcon, Marlboro. The veteran soul-rocker has made such songs as “Wild in the Streets,” “Ghost Writer,” “R.O.C.K.” and his version of “96 Tears” into staples on alternative radio. 7pm. Donations encouraged.

MUSIC: Buffalo Stack @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. The husband-and-wife team of Andy and Tania Stack – at the time performing as a duo called the Stacks – met bassist Brandon Morrison, drummer Lee Falco and guitarist Connor Kennedy to form Buffalo Stack and a new bluesy brand of roots-rock. 9pm.

An exiled man, pining for his wife, calls upon a passing cloud to carry his message of love, in the sublime classic by the celebrated 5th Century Sanskrit poet Kalidasa, in the form of an operatic ballet.
