Comin’ Soon: New Concert Announcements

Sublime singer-songwriter Shawn Colvin is headed into Club Helsinki in Hudson at 9pm on Saturday, October 18. Ticket prices are $45 & $60. Also new Helsinki’s concert calendar are the Cajun band Les Amis Creoles – featuring Cedric Watson, Desiree Champagne and Ed Poulard – at 8pm on Thursday, October 16 ($18 in advance; $20 at the door), while folk guitar greats John Sebastian and Happy Traum team up for a guitarists-in-the-round show with Kinloch Nelson, Craig D’Andrea and Maycn Taylor at 8pm on Thursday, October 23 (ticket prices TBA).

King Crimson was mighty mindboggling in concert at The Egg last night, and if you can’t snag a ticket to tonight’s sold-out show, the next best thing might be to head down to the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock on Monday, October 20 where KC bandmates Tony Levin and Pat Mastelotto team up with guitarist Markus Reuter for a concert as Stick Men. Tickets are $15.

Albany’s Washington Avenue Armory is hosting the kick off of the “Wild On: Release the Beats” fall tour with Borgore and GTA at 8pm on Friday (September 12). Tickets are $30 & $35. And Bad Boy hip-hopster Machine Gun Kelly brings his No Class tour to the Armory at 8pm on Saturday, October 4 ($27, $32 & $37).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr and his band will be making a tour stop at the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park in support of his upcoming album, Playland. Tickets go on sale on Saturday (September 13).

Windy City hip-hopster Chance the Rapper grabs the mic at Skidmore College’s Williamson Sports Center in Saratoga Springs on Saturday, October 11, as the headliner of the Verge Campus Fall Tour. Sweater Beats, Kandace Springs and Young & Sick are scheduled to perform as support acts. Ticket info TBA…

POSTPONED: Cher’s concert at Albany’s Times Union Center – which was originally scheduled for Thursday (September 11) – has been postponed to Monday, October 6.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Gary Louris leads his pioneering Americana band the Jayhawks into The Egg in Albany this fall.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: In conjunction with Made in the Berkshires, ’60s hitmakers Jay & the Americans will play a benefit concert for the Music Inn Archives at the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield.

The Head & the Heart heads into the Calvin Theatre in Northampton at 8pm Sunday, December 7. PHOX opens the show, and all tickets are priced at $33.50. Meanwhile, Led Zeppelin tribute band Get the Led Out takes the Calvin stage at 8pm Saturday, January 17 ($25 & $35), and Mick Jones leads Foreigner into the Calvin at 8pm Tuesday, February 10, firing up their catalog of hits from “Juke Box Hero” to “Hot Blooded” to “I Want to Know What Love Is” ($55, $65 & $75). Tickets for all three shows will go on sale on Friday (September 12).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Beatles tribute band the Fab Faux is slated for a return to The Egg in Albany.

The Vapor Nightclub in Saratoga Springs plays host to country singer Eric Paslay at 9pm on Wednesday, October 1 ($20) and the Bruce Springsteen tribute band Tramps Like Us for two shows (6pm & 8pm) on Thursday, October 16 ($20).
