But before we head out for the weekend, we’d like to send a great big thank-you to everyone who dropped by this week to add encouragement, support, proof-reading and, yes, criticism, too. And thanks for helping to spread the word about Nippertown.com.

Of course, we couldn’t possibly cover the wide, wonderful scope of offerings around town without a dedicated and devoted bunch of wonderful writers, photographers, artists, tipsters and other assorted enablers who continually enrich us all with their contributions. Joseph Deuel

Please consider adding your name to this list. Just send us something – a review, preview, interview, photo, list, rant, crayon drawing or whatever’s on your mind. Remember, Nippertown is your hometown, and we can’t possibly do this without your help.

And thanks to all of the folks from the area venues and organizations who were gracious enough to provide us with review tickets and/or photo passes for their events:

Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs

Video by Timothy Reidy

Nippertown’s fave Latin jazz combo Sensemaya wasn’t gonna let a little rainstorm wash out their Made in the Shade of The Egg concert on Albany’s Empire State Plaza, so instead of the usual Wednesday lunchtime performance slot (slated as part of the New York State Food Festival), pianist Dave Gleason and the boys postponed their show and took the stage on Friday, August 15.

10-Piece Band Serves Up a Hot End-of-Summer Dance Party @ MASS MoCA

EMEFE Dance Party at Mass MoCA August 30, 2014.

EMEFE Dance Party at MASS MoCA, August 30, 2014

Weather permitting, you will be dancing under the stars as EMEFE (as in M.F.A. – Music Frees All) a ten-piece soul-funk-everything band celebrates Labor Day weekend. These ten wailing musicians are on a mission to prove that there are no bad days, only days that need a new soundtrack. The blazing rhythms and bright sound will bounce off the bricks at MASS MoCA on Saturday (August 30) at 8pm in Courtyard C for an end-of-summer dance party that’s sure to be a barn-burner.

EMEFE lures crowds from the bar to the dance floor by beginning its live shows in the audience. The group is prone to snake conga lines while blaring trumpet squeals and swinging saxophones in one syncopated rhythm. The fun gets started at 8pm, and, yeah, if you want to learn some new moves, there will be some fun dance instruction by Jacob’s Pillow.
