Buddy Guy, What Was the First Song You Ever Performed in Public?

“It was in Baton Rouge, and I was playing a song by Hank Ballard & the Midnighters’ called ‘Work With Me, Annie.’

I was always very shy. I could play a few songs when I was with my personal friends, but I had a hard time playing in front of an audience.

That night I was so nervous that I turned my face to the wall and played with my back to the audience.

I got fired.”
