It’s time for the fourth annual the Battenkill Runs Through It Beach, Music & Food Festival at the Greenwich Town Beach from 1-6pm on Saturday (May 31). The fest is sponsored by the Battenkill Conservancy. The rain date for the festival is Sunday (June 1).
In honor of Memorial Day, George Perkins and members of the Greenwich VFW, will open the Festival with a Color Guard Ceremony, and plenty of homegrown, Local 518 musical talent will be showcased throughout the day.
Bob Warren & Joy Mackenzie will offer live sneak previews of their new album, You Taught Me Something New Today, slated for official release on Saturday, June 7. The Saratoga Fiddlers Club will cross the river and rosin up their bows to offer a sampling of their talents. The horn-fueled Roadhouse Rhythm & Blues Band (formerly the Netherwood Blues Band) returns to supply some fabulous dance party music, along with another great blues trio, the Roadside Blues Band. And Elizabeth Woodbury-Kasius and her world jazz ensemble Heard serve up their upbeat, global music hybrid sound with influences from Africa and Brazil, and from folk to classical music.
The fest also features plenty of river-related fun, including fly fishing demos, kayak rides, kid-friendly activities and contests. And if all of that isn’t enough for you, the admission price – $12, with discounts for families and children – also includes the Battenkill Picnic Plate featuring food from the best area restaurants: Boneyard BBQ, Spoonful Kitchen & Catering, the Village Cafe, 111, Dish, Healthy Living Market, Espresso Huis and Amigos Cantina.
Is that a bargain, or what?
