5/27/14: Today’s Tips: Tuesday

THEATER: “The Other Place” @ Barrington Stage Co., Pittsfield. In Sharr White’s psychological roller-coaster of a play, Juliana Smithton (Marg Helgenberger) is a successful neurologist whose life seems to be coming unhinged. Her husband has filed for divorce, her daughter has eloped with a much older man and her own health is in jeopardy. But in this brilliantly crafted work, nothing is as it seems. 7:30pm.

MUSIC: Ingrid Michaelson @ Upstate Concert Hall, Clifton Park. The indie-pop singer-songwriter rolls into town in celebration of her new album, Lights Out. With Storyman and Sugar & the Hi-Lows. 7:30pm. $28.

PARTICIPATORY MUSIC: Left of the Dial @ the Low Beat, Albany. It’s time for Punk Rock Karaoke. Nick Bisanz & the Q Krickets provide the live backing music, while you grab the microphone. No sensitive singer-songwriter stuff, please… 8pm.

MUSIC: The Nearly Deads @ the Fuze Box, Albany. With City of the Weak, Ampevene, Mod Fiction and Catching Cadence. 8pm. $5.

MUSIC: Lara Tupper @ Lion’s Den, Stockbridge. 8pm. FREE.

FILM: “Farewell to Factory Towns?” @ Saratoga Arts, Saratoga Springs. Maynard Seider’s previous film, “Downside UP,” was a documentary about how MASS MoCA transformed and revitalized the decaying factory town of North Adams, Mass. His new documentary picks up in North Adams where the previous film left off, and goes even further. 7:30pm.
