As we’re all too aware, the record store is an endangered species – like the American bald eagle, the drive-in movie, the typewriter repair shop and Gov. Chris Christie’s chances for the presidency. So in support of the annual Record Store Day (Saturday, April 19), bands and record companies are offering special deals – limited edition pressings or whatever – and we’d like to highlight a few choice upcoming Record Store Day offerings this week before Saturday rolls around.
The Autumn Defense – led by Pat Sansone and John Stirratt of Wilco – are serving up a Fleetwood Mac-related split single on the Yep Roc label. While Josh Rouse covers Lindsay Buckingham’s “Trouble” on one side of the vinyl seven-incher, the Autumn Defense dips back to Bob Welch’s “Sentimental Lady.”
Of course, not all special Record Store Day offerings are available at all record stores. But we here at Nippertown would like to urge you to get out on Saturday (April 19) and browse through the bins at you fave record stores – Last Vestige Music Shop, the River Street Beat Shop, Toonerville Trolley or just your local Salvation Army or Goodwill store.
NOTE: The Autumn Defense is headed into Nippertown for a concert at Club Helsinki in Hudson on Thursday, June 5.
