Mikaela Davis is a singer-songwriter from Rochester. But don’t expect the usual guitar strumming or piano plunking from her. Davis’ instrument of choice is the harp.
Currently studying at the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, Davis began harp lessons at the age of eight, and her musical career has continued to blossom ever since. But her classical music background is only the beginning. There’s more to the multiple music award winner… She’s also a fine songwriter and vocalist, blending influences from Tori Amos and Cowboy Junkies to trance and Ravel.
Davis is headed into Red Square in Albany at 9pm on Thursday (March 27) in support of her new EP Fortune Teller, and she’s bringing along Alex Coté on drums and percussion, as well as Cian McCarthy on guitar, sitar and keys. Opening the show is Banshee Tree featuring Tom LaFond and Kalyn Penbridge. Tickets are $10 in advance; $12 at the door.
