Palace Theatre Announces New Concert

ABBA The Concert – one of the lamest names we’ve ever come across for a tribute band – takes over the spotlight at Albany’s Palace Theatre at 7:30pm on Thursday, May 8. Yeah, you know what to expect… “Dancing Queen,” “Knowing You, Knowing Me,” “Waterloo,” “Mamma Mia” and more.

Priced at $37, $49 & $62, tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (March 14).

  1. Scott C. says:

Lamest tribute band names? Now you’re talking. How about these ones:

Led Zeppelin 2 (“We’re not a tribute band…we are Led Zeppelin 2″ they boast. Seriously, how can they call themselves this?)

    Bon Jersey

Bon Journey (They play both Bon Jovi AND Journey sets! Ouch.)

The The Band Band (sadly, not a The The tribute band)

  2. Greg says:

Scott C., thanks for the round-up, and they’re all good contenders. But my fave is the Dave Matthews Tribute Band. OK, they don’t play original music, but couldn’t they even come up with an original band name?

  3. Normando says:

Scott – I think the The The tribute band circuit has been sewn up by This is The The.

  4. Tribute bands that go above and beyond just playing a set of songs note for note, and get the whole stage set and near lookalikes should be called “historical reenactors”.
