The Hubbard Hall Opera Theatre (HHOT) is a young company of singers and musicians who think opera is so wonderful that you shouldn’t have to travel to the big city to enjoy it. That’s why they are taking Bizet’s amazingly accessible masterpiece Carmen on the road this winter to the frozen community of Dorset, VT and the campus of the University of Albany on February 1 & 2.

Regular readers know we love this innovative company with the modest production budgets, because regardless of the struggle for survival, they have always put the highest standard of music at the top of their list of priorities. What they lack in big sets is a highly creative approach to opera, which we have seen them perform in the Old First Church in Bennington and at their modest Hubbard Hall home in Cambridge.
