THEATER: “The Mountaintop” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany. Katori Hall’s play brings new humanity to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., in the hours before his assassination at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis. Directed by Nick Mangano, the dynamic drama stars Brandon Jones and Liz Morgan. 7:30pm. $20-$60; $16 students. Through Sunday, February 9.

FILM/FUNDRAISER: “American Made Movie” @ Proctors, Schenectady. A documentary about American manufacturing, followed by a panel discussion. 6:30pm film; 8pm discussion. $5.

THEATER: “The 7 Person Chair Pyramid High Wire Act” @ Contemporary Artists Center at Woodside, Troy. The Der Vorführeffekt Theatre blends experimental theater, puppetry, dance and science in a tale about Charles Darwin in search of the Yeti in the wilds of Siberia. Written by Donna Oblongata and directed by Sarah Lowry. 8pm. $7.

FILM: “Futuro: A New Stance for Tomorrow” @ EMPAC at RPI, Troy. Finnish filmmaker Mika Taanila uses amateur film and archival footage to investigate the futuristic imaginings of the Futuro House, designed and developed in 1968 by architect Matti Suuronen as a mass produced, mobile plastic housing unit. With Patricia Lennox-Boyd’s short film “Carl dis/assembling w/ self.” 7:30pm. $6.

SPOKEN WORD: Nitty Gritty Poetry Slam @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. The “Bad Lyrics” edition. 7pm sign-up; 7:30pm open mic; 8pm slam. $5; $3 students.

FILM: “All for the Birds” @ WAMC-FM’s The Linda, Albany. David Bunce directed this short documentary about the Berkshire Bird Paradise, written by Barbara Chepaitis and Steve Sawicki. 6pm reception; 7pm screening followed by discussion with the filmmakers. FREE.

MUSIC: Organ Recital @ Proctors, Schenectady. Carl Hackert & Claudia Bracaliello perform on Goldie. 12noon. FREE.
