With all the big arena and SPAC concerts flying around this week, this show might get lost in the shuffle, but even if you only have a passing interest in the art of the six-string, you’re gonna wanna know about this one – An Evening with Julian Lage and Chris Eldridge at the intimate Saratoga Arts Center at 7:30pm on Tuesday, April 22.
Primarily known as a jazz player, Lage – who made his national television debut on the Grammy Awards at age 13 – has been a frequent visitor to Nippertown, performing not only with his own band, but also as a member of the New Gary Burton Quartet and in a duo setting with Wilco’s mad scientist fretmaster Nels Cline.
Elridge, on the other hand, comes from the bluegrass end of the music spectrum, as a member of Seldom Scene and founder of the Infamous Stringdusters before smashing all musical genres as the guitarist with Chris Thile’s Punch Brothers.
Put them both together on the same stage, and you get, well, I’m not sure what you’re gonna get, but you can bet that there will be plenty of fabulous fretboard fireworks…
Advance tickets are currently on sale, priced at $20.
