Old Songs Announces Its Winter/Spring Concert Schedule

Old Songs in Voorheesville has announced the schedule of concerts for its winter/spring concert series leading up to the 34th annual the Old Songs Festival, scheduled for the Altamont Fairgrounds from Friday-Sunday, June 27-29.

Of course, June is a long ways off, but here’s what we have to look forward to from Old Songs before then:

The April Verch Band
Canadian fiddler & stepdancer

Saturday, January 25, 8pm
“Old Songs Sampler”
Featuring Shepards Pie, Lawson, Bob Altuschuler & Guy Mills, Casy Burger & Dhyana Miller, Alan Thomson & Colin McCoy. A benefit for the 2014 Old Songs Festival.
$20; $5 children 12 & under

Friday, February 14, 8pm
The Nuala Kennedy Band
One of the leading flute players in the UK with a wonderful blend of Irish and Scottish influences.
$23; $5 children 12 & under

Saturday, February 22, 8pm
“From the Mountains to the Sea”
A two-hour, multimedia/live presentation featuring the voices of the singers, photographs of the tradition bearers and their land, and the insights gained by the Warners as they traveled through rural America from 1938 to 1966 in search of old songs. With live music by Jeff Warner, Gerret Warner and Mimi Gredy.

Friday, March 21, 8pm
The Paul McKenna Band
Folk band vocals, driving guitar & bouzouki, intense fiddle playing & warm paring of flute, whistles & bodhran.
