Comin’ Soon: New Concert Announcements

LIVE, LOCAL & VERY LATE-BREAKING: The sublime Brad Mehldau will play a solo piano and synth concert at the Falcon in Marlboro on Saturday (January 11). Singer-songwriter Casey Erdmann opens the evening’s festivities at 7pm. Donations are encouraged.

Clifton Park’s Upstate Concert Hall welcomes veteran Pink Floyd tribute band the Machine to the stage at 8pm on Friday, April 18. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (January 10), priced at just $10.06 for the first day only. After that, tickets are $20 in advance; $22 at the door.

UPDATE: As we announced on Tuesday, the Pixies are playing a pre-tour sneak preview concert at the Calvin Theatre in Northampton on Monday. Mark Mulcahy opens the show at 8pm. Priced at $30, tickets went on sale to the general public today (Wednesday, January 8).

Club Helsinki in Hudson hosts looping one-man-band Zach Deputy at 8pm on Sunday, January 26. Tickets are $18. Also new on Helsinki’s concert calendar is pop singer-songwriter Stephen Kellogg at 8pm on Thursday, March 6. Tickets are $15 in advance; $18 at the door.

There are no details yet other than the date, but the Vapor Nightclub in Saratoga Springs has announced that ’90s R&B trio SWV are slated to make a return on Thursday, March 20.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Hip-hop superstar Kanye West has extended his Yeezus Tour, which includes West’s Nippertown concert debut at Albany’s Times Union Center. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (January 10).

Hometown favorites 3 – featuring Joey Eppard, Chris Gartmann, Billy Riker and Daniel Grimsland – step into the spotlight at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock on Saturday, March 1. And the Traveler opens the show at 9pm. Tickets are $15.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Egg in Albany is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ arrival in NYC with “All You Need Is Love,” a Valentine‚Äôs Day concert of Beatles love songs featuring performances by John Lennon tribute band the Nutopians, the trio of Rick Bedrosian, Tom Raider & Brad Jarvis (of Hey Jude … The Tribute), the folk duo of violinist-vocalist Sara Milonovich & guitarist Scott Petito and jazz pianist Cole Broderick. And admission is free, although tickets are required.

And the tenor sax tandem of Ralph Lalama and Jerry Weldon will be blowing at Flights of Fantasy in Colonie at 7 & 8:30pm on Sunday (January 12). They’ll be joined by pianist Dave Solazzo, bassist Otto Gardner and drummer Joe Barna for the performances, which honor drummer and longtime Schenectady Musicians Union president Mark Anthony. Suggested donation at the door is $10.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Sixties hitmaker Frankie Valli is headed back to the Palace Theatre in Albany with the current incarnation of the Four Seasons. Tickets go on sale on Friday, January 17.

CH-CH-CH-CHANGES: The concert by Persiflage – part of the upcoming NYC Party Horns concert series at Proctors in Schenectady – has been postponed from Friday, March 21 to Friday, April 11.
