Irish folk music legends the Chieftains team up with guitar great Ry Cooder for four nights and three full days of music making, workshops, concerts, singing, dancing and great food at Saratoga Springs’ Gideon Putnam Resort from Monday-Friday, July 7-11.
The Chieftains and Cooder first recorded together back in 1995 on The Long Black Veil. More recently, they collaborated on the 2010 album San Patricio.
In addition to Cooder, Paddy Moloney and the rest of the Chieftains, “The Celtic Sessions” will also feature Scottish vocalist Alyth McCormack, step dancer Cara Butler, fiddler Deanie Richardson, Irish harpist Triona Marshall, fiddler-step dancer Jon Pilatzke and others.
Registration is now open for “The Celtic Sessions” with prices beginning at $1,999 – which includes rooms, meals, a welcome kit and all workshops, sessions and concerts. No single-day tickets will be sold, although one concert at 8pm on Thursday, July 10 is scheduled to be open to the public.
