MUSIC: Skidmore College Orchestra @ Skidmore College’s Zankel Music Center, Saratoga Springs. Under the direction of Anthony G. Holland, the orchestra performs several pieces by Johann Strauss Jr. as well as Johann Strauss Sr.’s Radetzky March and Franz Lehar’s Merry Widow Overture. Internationally acclaimed harmonica virtuoso Jia-Yi He joins in for Pablo Sarasate’s Zigeunerweisen (Gypsy Airs), Brahms’ Hungarian Dance No. 5, Vittorio Monti’s Czardas and Ernesto Lecuona’s Malaguena. 8pm. $8; $5 seniors.

MUSIC: The Helderberg Madrigal Singers @ the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Troy. A holiday choral program for the December installment of Music@Noon. 12noon. FREE.

THEATER: “A Christmas Carol” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany. Michael Bush directs Broadway and Cap Rep fave Kevin McGuire star in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge in Patrick Barlow’s adaptation of Charles Dickens’ holiday classic, at once funny and poignant. 7:30m. $20-$60; $16 students. TALK: Rebecca Zorach @ Clark Art Institute, Williamstown. The Robert Sterling Clark Visiting Professor presents a talk on “Nature Imitates Nature: Paradoxes of Intention and Artifice in Early Modern Europe.” 5:30pm. FREE.
