In recent years, the great Texas troubadour Joe Ely has rolled through Nippertown both as a member of the Flatlanders, as well as part of the singer-songwriter gathering of Lyle Lovett, John Hiatt and Guy Clark, but it’s been a looong time since he grabbed a Local 518 stage as a headliner on his own.
Fortunately, that’s about to change on Thursday night (November 14), when the fine folks at the Ale House bring him into the Hangar, a relatively new Troy performance venue just across the street from the Ale House.
The Lone Star State has produced some of America’s finest singer-songwriters – from Roy Orbison to Townes Van Zandt – and Ely is at the top of the heap. He can rock hard, and he can be devastatingly poetic, sometimes both in the same song. He’s landed on Billboard’s country music charts, and he’s opened for such superstar rock bands as the Clash and the Rolling Stones.
Joe Ely is slated to hit the stage at the Hangar in Troy at 8pm on Thursday (November 14). Tickets are $25 and are available in advance at the Ale House as well as at the door on the night of the show. Don’t miss it!
