Yeah, he was alt-country before their even such a thing as alt-country. Super singer-songwriter Steve Earle is headed into Club Helsinki in Hudson for an intimate solo performance at 9pm on Saturday, February 15. Ticket price is $55 in advance; $60 at the door. And there’s lots more on the Helsinki calendar, too, including the Franklin Electric at 9pm on Friday, November 29 ($10 in advance; $12 at the door); a New Year’s Eve bash with Sister Sparrow & the Dirty Birds at 9pm on Tuesday, December 31 ($TBA); and the sublime soul singer Bettye LaVette at 9pm on Saturday, January 11 ($45 in advance; $50 at the door).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Egg in Albany announced three new upcoming concerts – Sonny Landreth & Cindy Cashdollar, the Wood Brothers and the David Bromberg Quintet. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale on Friday (November 8).

The Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park plays host to Conditions at 7pm on Wednesday, December 11. Support bands for the evening include Lions Lions, the Orphan the Poet, Survivor Divine and a CD release performance by A Little More Us. Priced at $12 in advance ($14 at the door), tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (November 8).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Darius Rucker will be headlining the True Believers Tour at Albany’s Times Union Center, with opening acts the Eli Young Band and David Nail. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Saturday (November 9).

New shows lined up for the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock include Amy Helm & the Handsome Strangers for a post-Thanksgiving concert at 9pm on Friday, November 29 ($20 in advance; $25 at the door; $35) and CKS – the blues-rock power trio featuring Randy Ciarlante, Bruce Katz and Scott Sharrard – at 9pm on Friday, December 6 ($15 in advance; $20 at the door).

OPENERS: Diamond Doves have been added to the bill as the opening act for Dr. Dog at the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park on Wednesday, November 13… Guitarist-bluesman David Jacobs-Strain has been tapped to open for Allison Moorer at Club Helsinki in Hudson at 9pm on Friday, November 15.

Proctors in Schenectady will host the Soulful Praise Gospel Concert at 7pm on Friday, November 15, featuring performances by J. Moss, Joshua Rogers and Tiffany Woodside. Tickets are $29, $39 & $55. Also at Proctors, the annual Melodies of Christmas concerts will take place from Thursday-Sunday, December 12-15 with performances by the Empire State Youth Orchestra and Youth Chorale with special guests Everest Rising, Amy Platt & Randy Crafton and the Northeast Ballet. Tickets are on sale for $15 & $25 with proceeds to benefit the Melodies Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at Albany Medical Center.

The Parlor Room in Northampton has a batch of fine shows lined up, including Darol Anger & Friends at 7pm on Thursday, November 21 ($12 in advance; $15 at the door); the Kennedys at 8pm on Friday, November 22 ($15); Sean Rowe at 8pm on Saturday, November 30 ($15); Mark Mulcahy at 7pm on Friday, December 6 ($15); and Syd Straw at 7pm on Friday, December 13 ($17 in advance; $20 at the door).

Singer-songwriter Shannon McNally – whose latest album, Small Town Talk is a tribute to the great songwriter Bobby Charles – is slated to play a solo concert at the Colony Cafe in Woodstock at 9pm on Sunday (November 10).
