THEATER: Next Act! New Play Summit @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany. A reading (and singing) of “The Thing About Time,” the new rock musical by Jake Holmes and David Buskin that tells the tale of five old friends, moving into middle age, who come together to honor their comrade Clifford, whose remains have been discovered forty years after he fell in Vietnam. 7pm. $15; $10 students. MUSIC: The Alash Ensemble @ Williams College’s Brooks-Rogers Recital Hall, Williamstown. Masters of Tuvan throat singing, a remarkable technique for singing multiple pitches at the same time. In addition to their vocal mastery the ensemble members also play a variety of traditional Tuvan instruments. 8pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Jim Gaudet & the Railroad Boys @ McGeary’s Pub, Albany. Bluegrass on wry. 7:30pm. FREE.

FILM: “Double Indemnity” @ Proctors, Schenectady. Billy Wilder’s 1944 classic film noir starring Fred MacMurray, Barbara Stanwick and Edward G. Robinson. 2:30, 5 & 7:30pm. $5.
