You can’t go wrong at Valentine’s Music Hall on Saturday night (October 12). Two stages, no waiting.
The upstairs stage will host a benefit concert for Albany’s Damien Center, which suffered a devastating fire in late August. And the Local 518 music community is once again lending a helping hand with seven bands – the Ernst Project, Two Cats in Suits, Party Boat, Charmboy, Bryan Thomas and more – donating their time and talent to aid in the rebuilding.
Meanwhile, Valentine’s downstairs stage will be graced by none other than Willie “Loco” Alexander, the Boston rock legend and former member of the Velvet Underground. Alexander hasn’t paid a visit to Nippertown since the glory days of QE2, when he led the charge with the Boom Boom Band. On Saturday, he’ll be accompanied by the Fish Eye Brothers, featuring Jim Doherty (drums) and Mark Chenevert (clarinet, sax, vocals).
Sharing the stage with the Loco One will be Saratoga singer-songwriter MaryLeigh Roohan – who will likely be showcasing some new tunes from her upcoming album, Skin & Bone, due out next month – and Greenwich master monologuist (and mayor of Duplex Planet) David Greenberger.
