MUSIC: The New Gary Burton Quartet @ the College of St. Rose’s Massry Center, Albany. In support of his new album, Guided Tour, the jazz vibraphone master brings his 70th birthday tour and his stellar band – bassist Scott Colley, drummer Antonio Sanchez and guitarist Julian Lage – into St. Rose, following a sparkling performance earlier this month at the Jazz at the Lake festival in Lake George. MUSIC: Music From China @ Skidmore College’s Zankel Music Center, Saratoga Springs. The chamber music trio will perform on the traditional Chinese instruments: erhu, pipa and zheng. 4pm. FREE.

TALK/FILM: “How a Sausage Dog Works” @ EMPAC at RPI, Troy. Curator Ewa Borysiewicz screens and discusses the work of Polish avant-garde filmmaker Julian Józef Antoniszczak (1941-1987), who created animated films by scratching images directly onto the film. His work is commonly associated with naïve, trashy fables and harmless humoresque, but Borysiewicz reveals a hidden political dimension in the filmmaker’s work. 6pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Ned Spain @ Proctors, Schenectady. The lunchtime organ recital on the mighty Wurlitzer Goldie. 12noon. FREE.
