The Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park welcomes all-star power trio the Winery Dogs – featuring (guitarist Richie Kotzen (Poison), drummer Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater) and bass master Billy Sheehan (Talas, Mr. Big) – on Friday, October 25. It’s a homecoming concert for Carolee Carmello – Capital Region native, UAlbany alum and three-time Tony nominee – as she returns to UAlbany’s Performing Arts Center at 7:30pm on Tuesday (September 24) for an evening of standards and songs from her Broadway career. Advance tickets are $15; $10 students & seniors. Tickets are $5 more at the door.
CH-CH-CH-CHANGES: Since the initial rounds of announcements, there have been some changes with the line-up for Farm Aid at SPAC on Saturday (September 21). JD & the Straight Shot have dropped off the bill, but new additions to the fest include Jamey Johnson, Sasha Dobson, Jesse Lenat, Insects vs. Robots, the Blackwood Quartet, Will Dailey and Local 518 faves the Parlor.
A few more first-rate bookings for the Ale House in Troy – Buffalo-born Texas troubadour, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter and record produce Gurf Morlix rolls into the Collar City at 8pm on Thursday, September 26 to celebrate the release of his new CD, Gurf Morlix Finds the Present Tense. Tickets are $15. And then at 8pm on Sunday, September 29, it’s the return of Nashville’s masked maraudin’ twangmasters Los Straitjackets with the Outta Sites opening the show. Tickets are $20.

New shows scheduled for Club Helsinki in Hudson include the return of chamber-pop sisters SHEL at 8pm on Thursday, October 15 ($15); singer-songwriter Meg Hutchinson at 9pm on Friday, November 1 ($15); and Latin jazz pianist-composer Omar Sosa at 8pm on Thursday, November 14 ($25 in advance; $30 at the door).
The young Croatian cello duo of Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser – known as 2CELLOS – take the cello to new heights in concert at the Calvin Theatre in Northampton at 8pm on Tuesday, October 15. Tickets are on sale now for $28.50 & $38.50.

The Bearsville Theater in Woodstock welcomes back the tribute band Woodstock Era Experience at 9pm on Saturday, October 12. Tickets are $20, $30 & $40. Bearsville is also hosting a Thelonious Monk Birthday Celebration at 5pm on Sunday, October 20, featuring vocalists Judi Silvano and Teri Roiger with pianist Joe Vincent Tranchina, bassist John Menegon and drummer Tani Tabbal. POSTPONED: The concert by folk veteran Buffy Sainte-Marie, which was originally scheduled for Saturday, October 26 at the Eighth Step at Proctors in Schenectady, has been postponed due to illness. No new date has been slated yet. And the double-bill of Brooks Williams and Beaucoup Blue, which was scheduled for the Eighth Step on March 1 has been postponed to October 4, 2014.
New on the concert calendar for the Palace Theatre in Albany is a concert by Italian tenor David Righeschi at 3pm on Sunday, November 17. Joining him for the concert will be vocalists Carlo Beni and Angelo Mazzone along with the Saratoga Youth Orchestra (under the direction of Maestro Longobardi) and the Capital District Youth Choral (under the direction of Diane Warner). Priced at $35 & $50 (VIP tickets with meet & greet are $75), tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (September 20).
