The Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams has announced its schedule of performances for the current school semester, which kicks off at 2pm on Saturday (September 14) with the rousing sounds of Orquestra Salsa con Cociencia.

Here’s the schedule of MCLA concerts for the rest of 2013:

SATURDAY (SEPTEMBER 14), 2pm
ORQUESTRA SALSA CON COCIENCIA
MCLA Academic Quad
$10; $5 students
Formerly known as La Excelencia, the NYC-based salsa dura band brings a modern vitality and social consciousness to the salsa genre, taking their bold sounds to salsa dancers and fans around the world.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 31, 8:30pm

It’s a special All Hallows Eve show with music, projections, costumes, taxidermy and other macabre phenomena, featuring the band fresh from their debut performance at the Restoration Festival in Troy last weekend. Following the opening reception for Ryder Cooley’s art exhibit, “Rewilderment” at Gallery 51 (from 6-8pm), she’ll join the Dust Bowl Faeries to perform their haunting songs on accordion, uke, lap steel guitar, keyboards and singing saw. Costumes encouraged.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 6pm
“50 YEARS AFTER THE FIRE”
MCLA’s Church Street Center

An inspirational evening of new work composed by acclaimed composer-trombonist Craig Harris. Performed by Harris and his band the Nation of Imagination with MCLA’s a cappella group the Allegrettos, the new works are based on the turbulent times of the 1960s and the social uprisings and movements of that era.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 12, 7:30pm
THE SWEETBACK SISTERS
MCLA Church Street Center
$10; $5 students
The annual holiday concert gets a honky tonk makeover as the Sweetback Sisters bring their infectious country swing sound and contagious charm for a rollicking retro sing-along.
