MUSIC: Richard Buckner @ the Half Moon, Hudson. The Americana singer-songwriter kicks off his tour in support of his brand-spankin’ new album, Surrounded, which was released on Merge Records yesterday. With Big Search. 8pm.

MUSIC: Kid Rock @ Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Saratoga Springs. With ZZ Top and Uncle Kracker. ZZ Top opening for Kid Rock? Really? 6:45pm.

MUSIC: Danny Whitecotton @ the Moon & River Cafe, Schenectady. With Brad Towle. 7pm. FREE.

SPOKEN WORD: Poetry Open Mic @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. With featured readers Michael Steffen and Rachel Cullen. Sign-up at 7pm; readings begin at 7:30pm. $5.

    I would consider ZZ Top the main event, with Kid Rock the after thought.
