MUSIC: Ray Murray & the Bomb Squad @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. Formerly known as the old-timey band the Parlour Boys, RM&BS now sports a considerably more contemporary sound. And oh, by the way, no one in the band is actually named Ray Murray. 8pm. $17.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: For David Griggs-Janower @ the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Troy. A celebration of the life and music of the founder and director of Albany Pro Musica. 11am.

MUSIC: Green Jelly @ Bogie’s, Albany. Kenmore, NY’s contibution to the world of costumed comedy punk rock. With Deadlift, Protocol Seven and Satan Place. 7pm. $12.

MUSIC: The Chandler Travis Philharmonette @ the Peint O’ Gwrw Tafran, Chatham. 8pm.

MUSIC: John Mayer @ Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Saratoga Springs. Yes, Katy Perry’s boyfriend is back in support of his new album, Paradise Valley. With Phillip Phillips of “American Idol” fame. 7:30pm.

MUSIC: Poor Old Shine @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. Folk-roots quintet Poor Old Shine fits into the neo-folk scene led by such groups as Mumford & Sons, Avett Brothers and the Lumineers, mixing original songwriting with traditional folk ballads, prison work songs and front-porch-style jamming. 9pm. $15.

THEATER: “Stockholm” @ Stageworks/Hudson, Hudson. Playwright Bryony Lavery, director Laura Margolis, choreographer Jennifer Weber have concocted a bold and adventurous slice of intimate drama tinged with dance that The New York Times’ Ben Brantley calls “a smashing American premiere.” We agree… 8pm. $29. Through Sunday.

MUSIC: Albert Lee @ the Bearsville Theater, Woodstock. It seems the guitar great has played with just about everyone from Jackson Browne to Joe Cocker, from Don Everly to Emmylou Harris to Eric Clapton, who has called Lee “the greatest guitarist in the world.” With Forward Motion. 9pm. $30.
